Women's MMA: Weekend Results

Ready, set, submit!

Ediane Gomes, Sara McMann, and Ronda Rousey played a game of one-upmanship Friday as each took less than a minute to submit their respective opponent.

It started at the Blackeye Entertainment card in Fletcher, NC, when Ediane Gomes (7-2) came back from losing to Rousey via armbar in 25 seconds in March by defeating Kat Alendal with an anklelock in 42 seconds. Not to be out done, Olympic silver medalist in wrestling McMann (2-0) got an armbar on Olympic bronze medalist weightlifter Julie Malenfant in 32 seconds.

Meanwhile in Calgary, Canada, after all the drama leading into the fight between Rousey and Charmaine Tweet (Rousey was offered a Strikeforce match, but was unable to get out her contract with the Hard Knocks Fighting Championships), it only took 49 seconds for her to armbar Tweet. Expect Rousey to announce she is signing with Strikeforce in the next week.
